Yorshire Pud HowTo Books Blog

27 October 2009 DIRTY NAILS BLOG by Joe Hashman EARLY AFTERNOON IN THE ORCHARD, BY THE FIREYou can buy them, frozen and over crisped, in almost any shape you like, from any supermarket in the country, but real Yorkshire puddings are made in the kitchen and cooked in sparklingly hot oil minutes before eating.

Why this dish is called Yorkshire pudding is not quite clear. Many counties have a traditional batter based dish, and the indomitable Fanny Craddock insisted, on that famous last show where she rubbished a poor lady menu and consequently never worked again, that Yorkshire pud was French.

In Yorkshire there is a history of eating the Yorkshire pudding before the main course, as an appetiser. The pudding was cooked under the dripping roast, and consequently retained the juices that fell on it. It is said that some villagers inland from the east coast fed Yorkshire pudding to invading Vikings and they enjoyed it so much they spared them. It is also said that these same villagers told the Vikings where to get real Yorkshire puddings; over the hills in Lancashire! Perhaps they should try there next time?

There is basically no difference between a Yorkshire pudding batter and a pancake mix. The two are just cooked in a slightly different way. Pancakes are ladled into a hot pan with a little oil and spread into a large flat plate sized crepe. Yorkshire pudding is poured into a spitting hot roasting tin and baked. The cooking forces air out of solution in the batter and you end up with a light crunchy top, plenty of air bubbles, some of them larger than others and a more puddinglike base. Without this base, all you have is crispiness, which some people might like, but definitely is not true Yorkie pud.

Almost everyone knows and loves the basic, roast dinner pudding, but you can use your imagination with a Yorkshire Pudding, as we shall see.

The basic Yorkshire pudding (Savoury mix)

180 g plain flour

180 ml whole milk

50 ml water

2 eggs

pinch of salt and pepper

Sift your flour into a bowl, add the seasoning.

  • Break your eggs, add to the flour and beat them in. If you can use an electric whisk it will be much easier. Mix your milk and water and gradually add to the egg and flour, beating all the time.

Continue beating until bubbles form in the emulsion this is important because it means the liquid is pretty much saturated with air, which will be released in the cooking to bring lightness to the pudding. Some cooks say to rest the batter before use. I must say, having rested and used the mix straight away, there is very little difference between the two.

Real Yorkshire is cooked in lard. You can use sunflower oil, but lard gives a better flavour. Pre heat around 50g of lard in a roasting tin in a very hot oven until it is spitting hot.

Quickly but carefully remove the hot tin from the oven and pour in the batter. The idea is to get the roasting tin backinto the oven as quickly as possible before it looses too much heat, being careful not to burn yourself.

Cook at a high heat for 20 to 30 minutes. It is cooked when it is risen and crusty golden brown on the top.

Toad in the hole (Toad in th is simply Savoury mix as above, poured over partially cooked sausages. The sausage cooking is continued in the oven, so they only need to be lightly browned in a frying pan before hand.

Heat your lard (or oil) as above and then carefully add your partially cooked sausages before pouring in your batter mix. Cook in a hot oven for 20 to 30 minutes, great with onion gravy! This is the original point of savoury Yorkshire pudding; it is a great medium for gravy, and so a good meat substitute in a time when Sunday joints were very expensive.

This needs a cup of tea, not because it is dry, but there is something about the combination of flavours that makes this breakfast meal a treat. It like red wine and chocolate. Bacon, black pudding and mushrooms fried lightly and then places within a batter as for Toad in the hole.

  • While the batter is cooking in the normal way, fry an egg or two ready to be placed neatly on the rest of the breakfast once it has appeared from the oven.

This is the only recipe that works with individual portions. You cannot really make good Yorkshire puddings in dozen sized multiple bun trays. By the time you get to the end it has lost the heat needed to give the batter a sizzle and the end ones turn out not as crispy or light as the first ones.

Of course the mix, as we have already said, is the same as pancakes, so it can be served with sugar, jam, ice cream, lemon and syrup, honey anything. But then there is something else is the nearest you can get to heaven with a spoon. It is a sweet batter, which is easy to make. Instead of the all the plain flour, simply use a mix of 60g flour and 80g caster sugar. Also use four eggs instead of two, and cook in a butter lined tin instead of lard or oil.

  • Also the roasting tin is not pre heated.

Before you pour your batter into the well buttered tray, add fruit; cherry, apricot, apple, banana, pineapple anything that takes your fancy. Simply add your batter and cook in the normal way.

This can be simply dusted with caster sugar after cooking or caramelised sugar using a kitchen gun.

  • It is really spectacular flamed but do be careful not to set yourself on fire. It is his or her idea, essay online essayclick.net/ or an expression of or a response to another’s idea, and it often is marked with the writer’s name

Tips for Nurturing Your Relationship: Is it Time to Rekindle the Romance?

Powerful Tips for Nurturing Your Relationship
Is it Time to Rekindle the Romance?
    1. INTEGRATION IS KEY
MAKE ROOM FOR YOU: Remember the movie Jerry McGuire when last line was “You complete me” and everyone thought that was so romantic? This is precisely that we want to shift away from! We want to work on feeling “whole” within so that we magnetize a partner that is in alignment with us, or stay in balance with our existing partner. It is actually very dis-empowering to you and to your relationship to shift the responsibility for being “whole” to being with a partner. Successful partnerships beautifully weave their connection with one another with individual strength and power. It’s about knowing you are solid on your own and your partner only enhances that feeling of fulfillment in your life. It is from this energetic space that you connect with your inner source of personal power, brilliance and love within, and allow for a deeper, greater flow of love between you and your partner. What happens next is that your partnership enhances your life versus defining it.
MAKE ROOM FOR “US”: Integration also refers to transitioning frombeing totally self focused into making room for partnership that requires loving consideration, compassion, and open communication on a daily basis.

  • It’s all about creating a win/win formula for creating a deeper, more solid connection with one another. It’s shifting from a “co-dependent” dance to an inter-dependent dance that feeds both of you from the inside-out.
    2. SHIFT FROM STAGNACY TO GROWTH AND EXPANSION: Nothing is static in life. Everything changes. This applies to your relationship, as well. So you must be prepared to allow room for personal and collective growth with your partner. Sometimes communication can become stagnant, routines can take away excitement or passion, or you may feel the desire to soar while your partner is stuck! To fully integrate and consciously allow your relationship to evolve in a positive way, you must anticipate and support a fluid personal and collective growth process into your relationship. This growth and evolution is essential for a thriving partnership.
    3. SHIFT FROM NEGLECT TO NURTURING
CHOOSE TO REMAIN CONNECTED. As many of you know, I’m all about setting intentions and making conscious choices. After the infatuation wears off, many of us know what it feels like to start focusing on the disappointments and we begin sweating the small stuff! When you make a commitment to really listen to your partner, ask questions, show that you are interested in how they are feeling and what’s going on in their heart, mind and spirit on a regular basis, you put yourself in the drivers seat of your relationship. Partnerships require love, nurturing and regular attention. When you consciously choose to be present and available to your partner on a soul to soul level, you will notice your connection deepening in beautiful new ways. When you consistently choose to put your attention and focus on your partner and make the relationship a priority, you will consciously create the fulfilling relationship you desire and deserve.
    4. SHIFT YOUR FOCUS FROM WHAT’S NOT WORKING TO WHAT IS WORKING:
Remember, what you focus on expands, and energy goes where energy flows! When you choose to focus on what’s working in your relationship, you will notice yourself becoming much happier and content. Make a commitment to regularly remembering why you fell in love in the first place. Why did you choose to open your heart to this individual in the beginning? Keep in mind what happens when you praise a child for good behavior. They repeat the behavior because it feels good to you and that good feeling gets transmitted to them! So, when we remind our loved ones why we love them, they are motivated to exhibit the behaviors we love! Love needs to be nurtured and revitalized to keep romance alive and keep the relationship evolving through the ups, downs and challenges of time and experiences. So, it’s important to repeatedly tell your partner what you love and appreciate in them. Just because you think he or she knows how you feel about him/her doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t tell them! Or, just because you’ve said it before, it’s worth repeating! When you appreciate your partner, they shine even more brightly. So, choose to focus on what’s right in the relationship.

  • Choose to nurture the great qualities. This will pave the way for even more love.
    5. SHIFT FROM ROUTINE TO RE-KINDLING:
Remember that the little things matter! When you take the time to write your partner a note, get them a flower, cook them dinner, call them during the day to just say “I love you” or simply show kindness, respect, admiration, and consideration for them, their heart will open and their love will flow. If you want to get back to feeling the passion in your relationship, focus on regularly giving and receiving these small gifts of love every day. What do you know that makes your partner feel special and loved? Do these things on a consistent basis and you will feed the relationship with the love vitamins it needs to thrive! I want to add that it’s equally important to put yourself in a receiving mode, so that you can openly, gracefully and joyfully receive their love gifts to you as well! This opens the door for a healthy flow of giving and receiving and the rewards are priceless!
    6. SHIFT FROM KEEPING SCORE TO GIVING MORE
When you consciously choose to give without expecting anything in return, you will change your relationship completely- for the better! Taking on the role of martyr by always giving and requiring nothing in return is not the answer, but when you have two people who are choosing to give without any expectation of getting something in return, magic begins to happen! Remember the importance of being the change you want to see in the relationship. If you want more “something” in a relationship, start with giving what you want to receive. For example, if you want more attention, give more attention. If you want more affection, give more affection. If you want more patience, be more patient. Just “BE” whatever it is what you feel you’re missing from your partner and watch things begin to change…
    7. SHIFT FROM PAIN TO PURPOSE
Our relationships are mirrors. They are our greatest opportunity for growth. When you consciously choose to approach your challenges as golden opportunities to know yourself and heal yourself, everything changes. Don’t waste these divinely designed chances for soul expansion and personal growth! When there is conflict, which is inevitable in most relationships, there is so much that you can use for your individual and collective advantage.

  • Every perceived “problem” is a beautiful blessing in disguise.

  • When you shift your perspective and allow these opportunities to be stepping stones to greater awareness and connection, your partnership with flourish and thrive like never before.
    8. SHIFT FROM COMPLAINING TO COMMUNICATING:
Remember this powerful truth and you will can change in an instant: What you resist persists! Anything you bottle up will blow eventually, and those explosions can take many forms; sickness, depression, acting out in ways that sound demanding or nagging toward your partner. The only thing that can break an unhealthy pattern is open, direct communication/ Try this very effective exercise when experiencing conflict with your partner: Each person has their opportunity to speak. Each responds to the following question “What was your experience”? The idea here isn’t for one to convince the other that he/she is “right”. It’s about addressing the challenge, not getting into the blame game. This exercise requires active listening which is about hearing what the person you love experienced. You don’t have to agree with their perception or perspective to empathize with them.

  • Compassion reconnects you with your partner. Your ability to choose to see and feel a situation from your loved ones’ perspective is very powerful and very healing. This builds trust and opens the gateway to healing, growth and connection.
    9. SHIFT FROM BLAME TO TAKING OWNERSHIP:
In order to feel true fulfillment and happiness, you must take responsibility for your experiences.

  • No one can make you happy. You have to grab hold of the reigns and realize that your actions, responses, your perceptions and your focus determines the way that you experience life. Whenever you hear yourself saying “You’re making me miserable,” or “It’s your fault because….” know that these are clues that you have detoured from the inter-dependent track onto a co-dependent one. There is a difference between healthy reliance and debilitating dependence. Part of true intimacy is knowing that there are times when we will rely on each other, but the key to happiness lies within YOU.
    10.

  • SHIFT FROM BITTERNESS TO FORGIVENESS:
Your capacity for self reflection and the ability to release resentments or any desire for retribution is a real key to the success of your relationship. Apologizing and asking for forgiveness as well as accepting forgiveness is a crucial component for intimacy. When you can look your partner in the eyes with a genuine expression of apology and/or forgiveness, it builds a strong foundation made up of deep trust, understanding and resiliency. Dynamics Gp Partner Newsflash: Tax Tables Update Service Overview

Microsoft Dynamics GP, formerly known as Great Plains Dynamics and eEnterprise US Payroll module requires periodic payroll tax rates update.

  • For large number of employees in your organization, especially when you have locations in multiple US states, you probably want to do quarterly tax update. If you are current with Microsoft Business Solutions annual support plan, you have access to Payroll Tax update utilities through your GP Customer Source. If you are no longer enrolled in annual support plan, you should check with your current Dynamics GP VAR if your current Great Plains version is still supported and you could receive Tax Updates from your GP Reseller.

  • In this small publication we would like to give you the idea on limited payroll tax update service for old versions of Great Plains Dynamics GP:

    1.

  • Payroll Tax Rate Tables in Dynamics database. Tax rates are stored in system database of Great Plains, which is Dynamics.

  • So, updates is done only once on the system level, and it should take effect immediately for all your companies

    2. Limitations of Tax Update for old versions.

  • GP versions 8.0, 7.5, 7.0, 6.0, 5.5, 5.0, 4.0 and earlier are no longer supported by Microsoft and Payroll Tax update download is not available for these versions. However, you should expect that some of the States changed their Tax calculation formulae and it is not possible to use old formulas, incorporated in Dynamics.DIC business rules logic. At this time we are aware about Missouri, so if your employees are there, please consider reenrolling to MBS support plan and upgrade your Dynamics GP to supported version 10.0 or 9.0. The other option would be to request GP Dexterity custom programming to update Tax Calculation formula in your old Great Plains version

    3. Tax Rates Update Technology. We do understand your situation and we copy current tax rates to custom table and then from there we update your outdated tax tables in Dynamics database. This procedure typically requires four hours of Great Plains Technical Consultant time

    4.

  • Tax Update for Pervasive SQL and Ctree databases.

  • This update requires some help from your IT department. Our preferred method is to use Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Manager, create Linked Server to your Pervasive SQL or Ctree database, and update tax tables through heterogeneous SQL Update statement. If this is your case, please budget eight hours for the procedure. Many advantages come to a writer whose work research paper order online is published by a major house

    Summer Camp Water Games

Picking the right outdoor camp activities such as water games can mean the difference between having hours of fun in the sun or seeking shelter inside from the heat.

  • As a camp counselor or volunteer, water games are one of the best ways to keep kids excited, engaged and cooled off, and they are also an excellent way to entertain larger groups of children while teaching them teambuilding skills. You may want to have kids wear swim clothes for these games.

    Liquid Limbo

Liquid Limbo is a great pick for younger children and only involves the participation of one or two adults. Use the stream of a hose instead of a pole and hold it in a way that it creates an arch for children to under.

  • Turn on some fun music and hold a hose high, lowering each time all of the children have been underneath for a round. Children who don get wet by the hose stream can get back in line and continue to try staying dry until the winner remains! You can play this game with only one child or many children.

    Sponge Relay

A sponge relay is perfect for elementary kids and middleschoolers, as it is a fun teamwork activity that isn overly strenuous. Adults can divide children into two or more teams and place a bucket of water and a sponge in front of each team. Supervisors should place an empty bucket in a straight line 50 feet away from each full bucket of water that has been marked to indicate a fillline. Children will soak up as much water from one bucket as they can with their sponge and then run and squeeze it into the bucket they have to fill. They have to run the sponge back to their line when finished squeezing out the sponge. The first team to fill the empty bucket to the fillline wins.

    Water Balloon Toss

This game requires a minimum of two children to play, but it is fun in larger groups of elementary and middle school children.

  • Adults should prepare one water balloon for every pair of children, and children should stand facing each other in two lines several feet apart. Pairs will toss the water balloon to each other; both children should take a step back after every toss. The team who breaks their water balloon last wins.

    Duck Duck Splash

Duck Duck Splash is most fun in a group of young children. Supervisors will fill a small bucket with water, and children will sit in a circle facing one another. One child will stand and pat other children on the head, saying “duck” every time he or she touches the head of a child that will not be splashed with water. The child will yell “goose” when he or she picks a child to splash.

  • The splashed child will then get up and chase the one who splashed the water. The objective is for the “splasher” to sit down in the “splashee seat before the “splashee” can catch him or her. You Are An Imperfect Leader – So What?! Rise Up & LEAD ANYWAY!

I see you going around thinking that unless you are perfect in all of your ways then you do not have the right to win.
And it is just a silly excuse!
A silly crazy excuse that keeps you from even giving your dream and vision a great big go!
You can tell yourself that you made a mistake, you can tell yourself that no one wants to be led by or even buy from someone as imperfect as you and you would be adding mistakes upon the original mistake!
You are born to lead and you know it and honey, you will feel most attacked in this area of leadership – Everything will be a good reason to not lead and you will even justify the nonsense by telling yourself that someone like you with all your flaws is not allowed to help others.
And if you keep doing that then you will go to the grave with your potential still in you because honey, you will never be perfect.
    You will make mistakes…
You will make the wrong decisions sometimes…
You will fall off the narrow path sometimes…
The question is how quickly will you get back up again and carry right on?!
Yep, there are consequences of choices made and you may see those as punishments but they are not, they are just what follows when you take a certain action. And in the moment of realisation of these consequences, you then get to choose what you do next.
Recognise that everything is still working out for your good and dust yourself off, express gratitude that though you made a mistake, you are still who you are (LEADER) and then just keep moving forward
    Or
tell yourself that you are now eliminated from the journey and that no one needs to hear what is on your heart to share. You are sinner and therefore you deserve to be punished etc etc
The unfortunate truth is that many leaders choose the second pathway and they even tell themselves that it is right that they feel this way and that they must eliminate themselves from the race.

  • And this goes for small insignificant ‘sins’ as well as big ones.
And while they indulge their silliness, their people are not being led.
The message stays trapped inside of them and no one wins!
They feel worse and worse and worse knowing that they are not doing the work they are here to do and so they get even more lost and they try to drown out the pain of unrealised dreams and potential with various addictions – Food, sex, drink, entertainment, spending splurges, continual internal beating themselves up for their various failings.
And ultimately, their people never get served.
Such a waste of a life and all because of the expectation that leader must be perfect.
I am not perfect – NOPE, I am not. I woke up this morning guilty about some crime I had committed last night – OK, I had indulged in a whole pack of some sugary sweets even though I had promised myself not to and I ended up feeling quite sick. And this morning I felt pretty silly about it and yes, because of what I feel called to do, I felt imperfect.
I felt like I had done you all a disservice…
And then I whipped out my journal as I do and here is what Spirit said to me and to you
“You are imperfect leader and that is okay. Do not take yourself out of the race because of that. You make mistakes and that is okay. Dare to stay on track anyway.

  • Dare to forgive yourself and show up anyway.

  • The guilt, the shame – It does not matter unless you make it matter. Remember who you are”
And then I went on to write down who I was, as I do every morning.
You can do that as well, right now.
Write down who you choose to be – Not who you are because of a few mistakes made – WHO YOU CHOOSE TO BE!
Remind yourself that you are co-creator of your life experience and you get to design your life the way you want it, regardless of a few mistakes along the path.
Learn the lesson, forget the blips and look at the big picture.
    You are called
    You are born for more
    You are champion!
And nothing can take your destiny away from you UNLESS YOU LET IT!
    Simply don’t!
Wake up and be an imperfect leader, and keep overcoming mistakes, keep expanding who you are, keep showing up whilst doing all this.
And forgive yourself for whatever wrongs you feel you have fallen foul of.
Breathe out the guilt and shame
    Breathe in love
Fight for, deliberately design the life you are born to live
    Because you want to!
PS – Ready to stop using your mistakes and flaws as a reason not to do the work you are here to do?

    Amalaki Vs.

    Synthetic Vitamin C

Amalaki is a small greenish yellowish fruit grown on a small to medium sized tree in India and Nepal. It is fondly known as the 鎼塽rse?to thousands of people in India today and has been known as such since ancient times. Today amalaki 鎼昲e nurse?is being introduced to the rest of the world through Zrii juice. This fruit is essential to many in India who take it daily as part of their health regimen.

  • It is a super fruit, a cure-all that has been hidden from us for too long. Amalaki is very important because it is a rich source of phytonutrients and antioxidants. The antioxidant Vitamin C stands out above the rest in this fruit because this vitamin has not been found in any other fruit in such a large amount. One small amalaki fruit about the size of a grape contains the Vitamin C content of 2 large oranges. Unfortunately the amalaki fruit has a bitter, astringent taste and to get its full benefits, this organically grown fruit has been mildly processed to result in the delicious Zrii juice. So why not just take a Vitamin C supplement rather than drink Zrii juice? Zrii also contains Turmeric, Tulsi, Schizandra, Jujube, Haritaki and Ginger each of which brings more benefits to those who drink the juice. These 6 other ingredients also help to unleash the full potency of the amalaki. The fruit is a natural source of vitamin C, a gift to us from nature.

Synthetic Vitamin C as found in many vitamin supplements is poorly absorbed by the body. This is because it has been isolated and is not present in its complete form as it was meant to be taken. It is acid forming and puts a strain on the body鎶?systems such as the liver and kidneys. These organs have quite a hard time processing synthetic vitamin C and excreting it. The key is to have all the naturally occurring elements present to allow the synergistic and balancing effects to occur. In other words, the nutrients in 鎼榟ole food?products are always better than those same nutrients existing in isolation. If you want to get the most health benefits from something, ingest it wholly; don鎶?just pick and choose what you want out of it. Some Vitamin C supplements or products are tagged with rose hips or acerola and give the impression that they are natural. In fact many of these also contain a large amount of synthetic or isolated vitamin C.

It is grown in the nutrient dense soil under the Himalayas in some of the cleanest air and freshest water available. The fruit is harvested in the wild crafting method and that means it is grown among other trees species exactly as would happen in nature. It is not grown by mono-cropping which is a method of cultivating trees or plants by growing lots of that particular tree and only that particular tree on acres of land. Breast Health

I must go on record about my feelings regarding mammography. I was a card-carrying believer in the benefits of mammography until recently when a quirky realization hit my squarely in the face: the mammogram results in no way assist us with prevention, do they? We may be able to diagnose breast cancer earlier, but it is still there. So many patients are sent back repeatedly for additional views and six month follow-ups for “stability” of a finding,

  • that I am seriously concerned about the radiation we are exposing our breasts to year after year. Granted, the doses are small, but they’re also cumulative.
Enter thermography – a diagnostic technique utilizing an infrared camera to measure temperature variations on the body’s surface, thereby diagnosing breast cancer without radiation. My colleague and friend, Phillip Getson, D.O., is a Cherry Hill, NJ physician and authority on this safe,

  • effective technique, and here are his words on the subject:
    • Breast thermography has increased eight fold in the past ten years.
    • 70% of all breast cancers are found in clinical self-examination.
    • The number one of cause of breast cancer is radiation.
    • Mammography has an inherent 15-20% false negative result.
So what is thermography? It is a diagnostic test in which an individual stands two to three feet from an infrared camera that images the heat patterns of the breast. These images then are transferred electronically to a laptop computer where highly sophisticated images are formed in color and black and white. This allows the interpreter to look at vascular patterns, their configuration and placement, as well as heat patterns from one breast to the other to determine whether physiological abnormalities exist. Whereas other tests, including mammography, ultrasound and MRI are anatomic tests,

  • which means they look for masses or lesions, thermography is a physiologic study looking for changes in the activity of the breast suggesting abnormality.
